Another superb night on the ‘Naked Heart’ album tour, this time with full band as Brooke Law & The Outlaws. This one was the headline London show at The Grace in Highbury on Wednesday 7th October 2026 and it was great to see the music community out in force.
Whilst Brooke never holds back, the band made up of David Blomiley on electric guitar, Enrique Terella on bass guitar and Kris Rich on drums gave a louder, more full-on performance than I’d seen recently in the more intimate confines of The Golden Hinde.
We had a full run-through of Brooke’s brilliant debut album, which does include some softer moments too, before reverting to some older favourites in the second half of the set and an Elton John cover.
Two newer singles which may make it onto the planned second album – ‘Bad Idea’ and ‘Joyride’ – brought the rock element back up again before closing out with an encore of the sing-along ‘Boomerang’. Nice shout-out by Brooke to her friend Savannah Gardner (who’s still in Texas) and her Texas Sounds International Country Music Awards Festival win this weekend before singing ‘Cowboy Hat’, the song they wrote together (check out the album version with Savannah too).
Brooke’s mostly powerful but sometimes gentle voice sounded as good as ever, despite her telling me afterwards that she couldn’t hear herself on stage, whilst The Outlaws were a tight unit. There’s already a gig booked in for March at The Water Rats to Herald the new album – so Brooke better get writing and recording it once this tour finishes. No pressure, Brooke!
Opening the evening was a familiar face to me from her work with TALENTBANQ but this was my first time seeing SASSY sing live and I was wowed! Sassy, with her quirky stage presence, endeared herself to the crowd and it was lovely to see her enjoying herself on stage with her brand of indie-pop. Some beautifully witty storytelling and wonderful delivery, I loved her performance which put me in mind of early The Divine Comedy. Sassy started by accompanying herself on acoustic guitar but went hands-free when a guitarist joined her later in the set. Definitely one to see again, she fully deserves to be that side of the mike.
