When 4 uber-talented female singer-songwriters and musicians come together, and recognise that the sum of the parts is even better than the individuals, magic happens on a stage! On Thursday 6th August 2026, for what was billed as Savannah Gardner presents: Women of Americana, Savannah had gathered together Daisy Chute, Holly Carter & Lady Nade for a very special songwriters’ round.

All on stage together, with each taking a turn to sing a beautiful original and telling us what the song means to them, there was a wonderful level of collaboration and camaraderie between these superb women that elevated the evening. All played their acoustic guitars whilst Daisy also hopped on piano from time to time – even switching between both instruments mid songs for one of hers. Daisy’s fans in the audience will have recognised what has become known as ‘the Daisy way’ – doing things in the most complicated way just to see what happens!

With 4 very different voices and styles on show, loosely defined as Americana but woe betide anybody who attempts to put these young ladies in a box! Savannah described them as ‘sponges’ as they take on influences from all the music around them. One thing is certain – they all warrant you coming back for more again and again.

In a show that lasted for 1 and a half hours there was time for 3 songs each and one final collaboration of Gillian Welch’s ‘Everything Is Free’. A superb evening’s entertainment!

When both Daisy and Savannah individually excitedly confided in me on consecutive days a couple of months or so ago that they were putting on a show together, I knew that this was one we simply had to be at, despite being on holiday in Norfolk. The almost 5 hours of driving in one day was absolutely worth it – and was outdone by Holly and Nade’s one way five hour drive from Bristol due to an accident ahead of them. Such is the life of an independent musician – and a fan and gig reviewer!
