Top Floor is delighted to announce, the long-awaited 3rd studio album from The Outlaw Orchestra.
This trio from the South Coast are a familiar name for those on the scene and are renowned for bringing their energetic and often anthemic sounds to the live stages all over the UK – gracing stages and events from Planet Rockstock to Maid of Stone and many more besides.
“La Familia” has been a much anticipated follow on from the excellent “Makin’ Tracks” and teeters a little more towards the classic rock sound than the ‘country’ band many have mistaken them for in the past This new album contains the hit singles “Bag of Bones”, “Born to be a Thief” and “Holy Ground” – with a 4th single “Rotten Apples” due to release with the album.
Having such an androgynous nature to their genre, The Outlaw Orchestra have amassed a range of followers from the Stetson-wearing Country following to the leather-clad metal fans (thanks in part to an siblime cover of ‘Iron Fist’) – the music from “La Familia” is equally at home on Country Radio as well as Planet Rock and most formats inbetween. The Outlaw Orchestra possess not only outstanding musicianship, but intelligent song writing capabilities and these all meld together quite wonderfully with standout album tracks such as ‘Holy Ground’, ‘Bag of Bones’ and the next big single for release – “Rotten Apples”.
This latest single is quintessentially The Outlaw Orchestra – cigar box guitars providing the essence of roots rock ‘n roll, and it all started with the lyric “you call us rotten apples, you chucked us on the compost heap…”
The meaning behind it? It’s a defiant metaphor on being the easy choice, the low hanging fruit in life – the ones you cant throw away as they will always be here… but also, as front man Dave Roux confesses, that The Outlaws are lovers of a good time, and being that little bit imperfect and fermented makes it all that bit better.
