Fresh off two sold-out dates in Germany supporting Belle and Sebastian, rising stars of the Americana/Rock scene, Morganway, are thrilled to announce the release of their stunning new single “Boy On The Train,” on Friday 28th June. This single promises to draw listeners in with its heartfelt lyrics and evocative nostalgic melody, marking yet another milestone in Morganway’s musical journey.
The lyrics to “Boy On The Train” reflect themes of connection, travel, and the profound moments of family life, woven into an uplifting composition that is destined to be sang by fans at festivals this Summer. The chorus, “She’s got the ticket and the boy on the train,” is a recurring motif that resonates with the journey of life and love.
Callum Morgan, guitarist and vocalist, shared the intimate and spontaneous creation process behind “Boy On The Train”:
“We were on tour and I was sharing a room with Ed (drums). I’d gone to bed with Kieran’s Telecaster guitar by my side and started strumming this riff quietly in the early hours of the morning. That riff soon became the basis of the song. Ed woke up, thankfully enjoying the vibe, and recorded what I had so far on his phone. The first verse I then wrote acapella while in-transit.

My wife and son, who was only four months old at the time, were catching a train up to Newcastle to meet us. It felt like a big moment and the phrase ‘she’s got the ticket, and the boy on the train’ suddenly came to me. After the tour, I got together with SJ and we wrote the second verse.

From the get-go the vibe of the song felt quite Rolling Stones / Primal Scream to me, and I think Ed got that immediately; his drums really capture that loose rock n roll energy which is cool in a way because the song began with just him and me in a room. I’ve since told my son, now a toddler, the track was written for him. Let’s just say… it’s become a regular request in our house! He doesn’t call it “Boy On The Train” though, he calls it Seth’s Song, and these days, so do I.”
Morganway has a string of summer festivals lined up, including taking to the main stage at The Long Road. They will also hit the road in October with rockers Scarlet Rebels, bringing their exhilarating performances to audiences across the country.
“Boy On The Train” is distributed via Earache Records, and is available to pre-save / pre-order NOW!
