The emotionally charged, post break-up song “My Place“ is the latest single from country star Carly Pearce and the 5th track to be made available from her highly anticipated upcoming album “Hummingbird” out on June 14th via Big Machine Records

It’s a very relatable song that already seems to be hitting the spot with fans when performed live, including of course during her stunning C2C set last month, and was co-written by Carly, Lauren Hungate and Jordan Reynolds .

With the heart-wrenching vocal delivery we have come to expect from Carly, it sees her reflecting on what is happening in her ex’s life and in particular torturing herself by wondering if he has someone new despite deep down realising it’s nothing to do with her now.  In fact she’s “wondering what the hell I’m wondering for “. I love a song with clever word play, and the titular  “my place” is used to mean both  “my business” and “my home“.

The arrangement includes some striking fiddle courtesy of multi-award winner Jenee Fleenor, with co-producer Josh Osborne adding background vocals.

Carly explains,  “I wrote this song about a dream I had long before the relationship I was in ended, but I knew that it would”. She continues “It’s hard to watch people move on and realize your heart can’t live there anymore, but that realization is the beginning of the healing process“.

There’s a wonderful accompanying video too, the latest in Carly’s “through the lens“ series.

In case you missed the announcement, Carly is returning to the UK next February for a headline tour, with an extra London show already added and upgrades to several venues.

All dates can be found on the Country Lowdown Gig Guide.
