“Their sound is Delta blues, gritty honky-tonk, and Sun Records rockabilly, shot through with a palpable darkness — call the result ‘gothic country.’”
Rolling Stone
Hailing from the red dirt clay of Mobile, Alabama, The Red Clay Strays have spent the past year trailblazing their musical path across the USA. Their debut album Moment Of Truth has become a massive word-of-mouth success Stateside, driven by the breakout hit single ‘Wondering Why’.
Originally championed by the alternative Western AF channel, ‘Wondering Why’ is now a fast-climbing Top 10 hit on the hugely influential Triple A chart in America, where it sits alongside the likes of The Black Keys, Noah Kahan, MGMT, Future Islands and Foo Fighters. Already seasoned road warriors with intimate headline shows, high profile support slots and major festival appearances under their belts, the track has catapulted The Red Clay Strays into a whole new level of success.
The band have just finished their debut headline tour of the USA, entitled ‘Way Too Long’, which featured 38 sold out shows and now The Red Clay Strays are hitting the road again, playing bigger and bigger venues. Every show they have announced so far for 2024 has sold out within hours of tickets going on sale, including three nights at Nashville’s iconic Ryman Auditorium, all three of which sold out in under five hours on pre-sales alone!
Existing venues are having to be rapidly upgraded to arenas, including the legendary likes of Red Rocks Amphitheater in Colorado and the Mississippi Coast Coliseum. And yet, even these venues are proving too small for the unprecedented ticket demand as The Red Clay Strays explode across the American music scene.
With their incendiary chemistry on stage and eclectic rock-n-roll sound they’re being hailed across the US as one of the most exciting bands to break through in 2024. Led by the hugely charismatic lead vocalist and guitarist Brandon Coleman, blessed with film-star good looks and the soulful vocals of a gospel confessional, he becomes possessed on stage with the power of a Southern fire-and-brimstone preacher. So it’s no wonder that he’s capturing hearts and souls wherever the band perform.
Newly-signed to the highly respected independent label Thirty Tigers, the debut album Moment Of Truth is now being brought to a global audience with a physical release in the UK on May 3rd. UK fans will be able to order an exclusive limited edition transparent Root Beer colour vinyl alongside the standard Seagrass vinyl pressing on sale worldwide.
Ahead of the album release ‘Wondering Why’ is starting to explode on airwaves across the world, as music fans discover the power of The Red Clay Strays.
UK fans will be treated to the band appearing on our shores very soon, with their first British shows to be announced imminently. In the meantime, find out more in this Rolling Stone magazine profile, which has just been published, and listen to the Moment Of Truthalbum on all streaming platforms here.

Great new band, love the recorded music! Saw them at rabbit rabbit last weekend- totally underwhelmed with live show. 4 statues and a great drummer. Brandon barely interacted with the “biggest audience we have had”. Both guitar guys were standing on a spot s big as a napkin. Brandon did a little of his Elvis Moves that brought screams from the crowd. Ticket prices sure to go up now that they’re signed, not sure I’ll go back.
Hi. Thank you for taking the time to comment, sorry you were so disappointed though, perhaps they need a bit of time to find their grove?
Their music is Amazing .. don’t need to see a bunch of band members jumping around .. it’s the music I want to hear.. and do they deliver .. Hell yes they do!
I agree with Dee above! I go to music concerts for the music and The Red Clay Strays don’t disappoint!
We saw them open for Elle King in Boston, late February 23′. To quote “Their sound is Delta blues, gritty honky-tonk, and Sun Records rockabilly. I love it!
They are sold out in Boston this Saturday, and we will be there!
