Over the years there have been some surprising duets involving country music artists. In terms of surprises, nothing will ever beat the pairing together of Dolly Parton and Sylvester Stallone (yes it happened!), but Miranda Lambert duetting with Enrique Iglesias is certainly eyebrow raising. The duo have come together for a re-imagining of Enrique’s ‘Space In My Heart‘. The song was first released in 2022 in Spanish – Espacio en tu Corazón, a song that the Spanish singer songwriter recorded solo originally. This new version with Miranda Lambert is recorded in English.

‘Space in My Heart’ is a track that puts two prospective lovers together. They both have feelings for each other, and in the song they are expressing how they feel. The opening verse sees Enrique open up with his smooth Latin vocals, firstly asking, ‘Hey, tell me what I gotta say’. Miranda’s made-for-country voice then replies ‘You know, I won’t say too much too soon, Cause that’s not what you’re supposed to do’. Both a little unsure as to how the conversation in the song will go. However, it’s not long before their true feelings come out.

The vocals complement each other perfectly in the chorus when those true feelings come out.

No, you don’t love me yet, but I know you will/If you only felt half of what I feel/If you ever go, I will never change/There’s a space in my heart, and it’s just your shape.

Enrique Iglesias and Miranda Lambert both have an incredible ability in expressing emotions in their vocals and this is a prime example. On listening you can really hear the yearning for the other, never more so than when they sing the final line of the chorus to end the song.

Pre-release, Miranda Lambert posted ‘Texas meets Spain!’ on Instagram and the collaboration works perfectly. The song is the third single released from Enrique’s upcoming ‘The Final: Volume 2’ album. The album has been a long time coming, originally planned for 2017, and it will indeed be the final album release from the Spanish artist. For a landmark album in his long and successful career, it’s fantastic to see that he wished to reimagine a song with one of the true stars of country music.

In March last year, Miranda revealed that she would be leaving Sony Music Nashville, and this release, alongside the brilliant If You Were Mine duet with Leon Bridges, is an indication that the Texas star is already hitting the ground running in this new stage of her career.
