BY LESLEY HASTINGS
Hailing from Cornwall, cousin-duo True Foxes are fast becoming a household name in the South West and, although a new name to me, one listen to their most recent single “Higher” and I was also sold! If you love an uplifting country bop, featuring banjo, lashings of fiddle and glorious vocal harmonies, this release is for you too! Revolving around themes of personal growth and emphasising the importance of doing whatever brings you joy and fulfilment, it was co-written by the duo (Amie Parsons and Chloe Penrose Payne) and I really love its empowering message and the suitably fun accompanying video!
Building on the success of their 2022 EP “Sunny” and a busy 2023, which saw them perform 250 shows including a headline debut tour and major UK festivals such as Shrewsbury Folk Festival, Oxford’s Wilderness Festival and Celtic Connections in Scotland to incredible reviews, 2024 will see Amie and Chloe release their debut album “Howl” in early March. For those in the Truro area, the town’s HMV will be hosting the album launch on 2nd March at 3pm with several more tour dates already announced across the country .
Country Lowdown’s Mark Dare has already had a listen to the release, which (spoiler alert!) he has given a major thumbs up and he will be interviewing the duo for the site very soon so watch this space.
Meanwhile you can pre-order the album, keep up to date with all True Foxes’ news and of course find links to their socials here :-
