NEW VENTURE IN BELFAST LAUNCHED
As well Country on the Clyde returning to Glasgow following another successful country music weekender last Spring, we are excited to announce that we are also launching Country on the Lagan in BELFAST. Taking place over the weekend afternoons of the 9th & 10th March on The Ferry (Glasgow) and The Barge (Belfast), coinciding with C2C, we continue with our loyal commitment of supporting homegrown UK and Irish talent, as well as bringing performers across The Atlantic from Nashville. Our Nashville recording artists this year are Buckle & Boots favourite Jeremy McComb and UK debutant Dan Smalley. Both will play Belfast and Glasgow. Full line-up to be announced in January.
Dan Smalley may just now be making a name for himself, but he already sings with the voice of experience. And he’s got the bullet scars to prove it. The Alaska native who came of age in Shreveport, Louisiana, sings his confessional, soul-baring songs with deep conviction. Smalley expresses a fresh take on Country music that knows tradition, inspired by the greats of the genre and infused with the swampy sounds of his roots, the Gospel of hardwood church pews and the impassioned delivery of R&B. Artists like Merle Haggard, Ray Charles, Al Green and Willie Nelson provided a musical roadmap for Smalley to follow, and the against-the-grain success of Chris Stapleton, Jason Isbell and Sturgill Simpson drew him to Nashville. There, he began working with producer Keith Stegall, known for his award-winning work with greats like Alan Jackson, George Jones and Zac Brown Band.
Ashley McBryde (Grammy Nominated album “Never Will”) Trace Adkins, Ray Fultcher, Randall King, Makayla Lynn, Dillon Carmichael and others have included Smalley co-writes on their recent albums.
Smalley’s experience and command on stage has landed him on bills alongside Willie Nelson, Allison Kraus, Turnpike Troubadours, Ashley McBryde, Tim McGraw, Carrie Underwood, Eli Young Band, Justin Moore, Dwight Yoakam, Randy Rogers Band and a list of notable others
Good things come to those who wait, but luck favours the bold. And for Jeremy McComb, the balance comes natural. A storyteller epitomizing “been there and done that,” McComb has explored nearly every facet of the entertainment industry, all on his own terms. From radio to tour managing, releasing five albums, growing an international fan base, hitting the Billboard charts and writing songs for projects selling over 6 Million copies … including a Grammy-nominated soundtrack (Blue Collar Comedy Tour – One for the Road).
Proudly and fiercely independent in both spirit and style, Jeremy was born in Idaho as a sixth-generation musician. Music is in McComb’s DNA but he’s a distinct branch on the family tree. Obsessed with artists who share a gift for storytelling (and little else), he found inspiration in everything from Jim Croce to Tom Petty, and now bridges the canyons between country, rock and folk. McComb discovered a revelation during the last eighteen months of uncertainty and the effects of it became an influence for the songwriter. Like the rest of us, the constant state of chaos and complications led him to look back to a time when things were simpler.
Written songs on projects selling OVER 6 MILLION units. Songs recorded by country stars like Tracy Lawrence with movie and comedy soundtracks including a Grammy nominated, (Triple platinum) Movie Soundtrack. (Blue Collar Comedy Tour “One for the Road” )
