Since UK trio The Adelaides sadly fell victim to the enforced hiatus over Covid, their founder member, lead vocalist and main songwriter Paris Adams has been working hard at carving a career as a solo artist. Following on from her live debut in this capacity on the Caitlyn Smith UK tour here last October (I caught her impressive set in London) the seasoned performer played a slot on each of the three days of the C2C Festival in London in March.
Having released two fantastic singles earlier this year, “Gold” and “Stupid With You”, last Friday saw Paris release what she describes as “my favourite song I’ve written so far”. “Alien” is a solo write by Paris which apparently took her just an hour to pen, was recorded in Nashville with Grammy winning producer Femke Weidema and released via Demon. This ballad really is a stunning and very original love song in my opinion, with such delicate and beautiful vocals that showcase Paris’ tender side.
Talking about “Alien”, Paris explains “I wrote this song back in 2020 when life was pretty strange but I met someone who made me feel like I was on cloud 9. I’ve always felt I’ve been quite ‘unlucky in love’, so when I met this person, the concept of ‘Alien’ came to me quite quickly because the relationship I had with them genuinely felt surreal and like it was almost ‘ too good to be true’ …… I’m really excited for people to hear it”.
