In news that will delight Americana and Country music fans on this side of the pond, US singer-songwriting legend Jim Lauderdale has announced that he will play two UK shows this coming August with his band The Game Changers: an intimate show at Nell’s in London and a set at The Long Road Festival. Dates, which are part of a wider European tour, are as follows:
Wednesday 23 August – LONDON Nell’s
Jim Lauderdale and The Game Changers schedule, dates, events, and tickets – AXS
Friday 25 August – THE LONG ROAD FESTIVAL, Lutterworth, Leicestershire
Tickets – The Long Road – The Long Road
Lauderdale’s latest album, his 35th full-length record, Game Changer is out now on his own label Sky Crunch Records. On its release last summer, Lauderdale graced the cover of CMP magazine and Game Changer was met with glowing reviews. UNCUT magazine in its 8/10 write-up said: “Lauderdale has proved to be a master craftsman…”. AMERICANA-UK concluded: “It’s hard to imagine an album of its style much more accomplished than this one”, 9/10, and HOLLER stated: “Even with hundreds of songs in Lauderdale’s catalogue, it’s remarkable that he can still craft this many impressive new ones”.
More About Jim Lauderdale: At any given time, you’re likely to find Jim Lauderdale making music, whether he’s laying down a new track in the studio or working through a spontaneous melody at his home in Nashville. And if he’s not actively crafting new music, he’s certainly thinking about it. “It’s a constant challenge to try to keep making better and better records, write better and better songs. I still always feel like I’m a developing artist,” he says. This may be a surprising sentiment from a man who’s won two Grammys, released 35 full-length albums, and taken home the Americana Music Association’s coveted Wagonmaster Award. But his current album Game Changer is convincing evidence that the North Carolina native is only continuing to hone his craft.
