Born out of exasperated frustration about the current state of the world tearing friends and families apart, singer-songwriter Chase McDaniel delivers a deeply thought-provoking, stream-of-consciousness-driven track with “Pick Mine,” out today via Blue Highway Records. Understanding the depth of experiences that can drive people to their belief systems, McDaniel captures how it feels to be caught between competing sides while refusing to let those differences dictate who he loves. While some allow the blazing heat of the current climate to burn bridges that may never be rebuilt, McDaniel questions a culture where politicians benefit from keeping people angry, while the people absorbing that outrage bear the cost in their own relationships.

“I’ve got people I love who see the world very differently, and it’s hard to watch relationships get torn apart knowing there are people who make money to keep them angry,” shares McDaniel. “This song is my best effort to communicate the frustration so many of us are feeling.”
The simplistic production and instrumentation allow the incredibly poignant lyrics to make their impact, opting not to sugarcoat the stark truths addressed throughout the song. Written by McDaniel with Jon Nite and Lindsay Rimes and co-produced by McDaniel alongside Jerry Jacobs, “Pick Mine” is an unfiltered expression of how the singer-songwriter sees the division around him and what can be lost in a tug-of-war between two worlds of thought.
