Tender New Love Song “Lower” Out Now

The Cadillac Three frontman Jaren Johnston will release his debut solo album, The Guest Room, on November 13. Recorded in a makeshift studio he built in the guest room of his Nashville home, the 13-track album consists of everything from old songs finding new life to intimate love songs, vulnerable reflections and moments created simply to make the listener smile. Self-produced by Johnston, The Guest Room gave him the freedom to step outside the traditional country framework he spent years working within and an opportunity to explore a quieter, more intimate side of his artistry. The result is an atmospheric and cohesive collection that bridges Johnston’s country songwriting roots with the alternative influences that shaped him.

“I started making The Guest Room in November of 2024. Taking some much-needed time away from the band, the bottle and – for the most part – the outside world, I set up shop in the guest room of our house in Nashville,” shares Johnston. “It was therapeutic, fun, exciting and very chill, and the experience kept me from going crazy being off the road for the first time in 20 years. Making The Guest Room gave me a place to go and just be myself – and maybe figure out who that is along the way.”

The highly accomplished singer-songwriter is a writer on each of the tracks and assembled an incredibly impressive lineup of fellow hitmakers to assist him on the project, including Hillary Lindsey (Taylor Swift, Carrie Underwood, Little Big Town) and Chris DeStefano (Luke Bryan, Dan + Shay), among others. What began with boredom, an old acoustic guitar and a makeshift studio in a guest room became a deeply personal new chapter for one of Nashville’s most accomplished songwriters. The Guest Room is not a departure from who Jaren Johnston is, it’s a closer look at who he has always been, giving the songs, sounds and stories that have lived inside him for years a room of their own.

To preview the forthcoming album, the singer-songwriter is putting his Silverado in park and enjoying the view from the truck bed in his new track “Lower,” out today. Serving up a slice of his kind of heaven, “Lower” finds Johnston taking inventory of the important things in life that make the pearly gates feel just a little less out of reach. Written by Johnston alongside fellow heavy hitter songwriters Ross Copperman (Keith Urban, Kenny Chesney) and Matt Jenkins (Jordan Davis, Luke Bryan), “Lower” is a stunning and sweet display of gratitude for the everyday joys that bring warmth and peace. Previously released tracks “Tear Me Up” and “Ridin’, Drinkin’, Kissin’” will also appear on the project.”

I wrote ‘Lower’ with my good friends Ross Copperman and Matt Jenkins. I’ve always loved what a simple love song it is and have long pictured it on a country version of the soundtrack for the movie ‘Garden State,’” shares Johnston. “It’s definitely one of my favorites on the record.”
