Standout singer/songwriter Mae Estes is putting her own spin on a 90s country classic with a brand-new rendition of Shenandoah’s timeless hit “Moon Over Georgia (ft. Shenandoah),” out today via Blue Highway Records. Backed by the band’s Marty Raybon and Mike McGuire and armed with a reverence for this kind of country music that can be felt through every performance, Mae gives voice to the subject of song’s iconic story for the first time by altering the first verse to be from the woman’s perspective. This narrative flip turns the meaningful, hard-hitting track solely written by Mark Narmore into a duet that gives the song rich, new texture while injecting a weightiness into her decision to pick the “moon” over all things material like never before.
