As we close the 'Artiste of the Week' for 2018, we are going to focus once again on this year's 'British Country Airplay’s Artiste of the Year'...
...Emily Lockett (Update 14th December 2018)
Emily is a singer/songwriter from Stoke-on-Trent, studying an Artist Development BTEC Level 4 at Access to Music in Manchester, which was where we (Susanne & Steve) presented her with the British Country Airplay’s (BCA) 'Artiste of the Year' award for 2018. Whereas she was nominated and voted for by fans of country music.
Her first collection of self-penned songs, called "Reflections of Me", was released in December 2016, tracks from which she performed live on BBC Radio Stoke, 6 Towns Radio, Cannock Chase Radio, WCR FM and Moorlands Radio.
She has also had music played on the Best of British (Unsigned Music) radio show, Stafford FM, CMR Nashville, Keep It Country TV, The Green Room (radio show) on BRFM (95.6 FM) where "Nice Eyes" and "Feel Love" were voted as records of the week.
In 2018 her music continued to receive regular air play, which is where she came to the attention of us here at the BCA.
The BCA started this year and we decided to continue our aim to promote British Country Artists by honouring them with the chance to win a BCA 'Artiste of the Year' award, which will always be chosen by the people who support Country music here in the UK.
Her latest EP, ''My Imagination'' was released on 14th December to all online stores and after being just outside the Top 10 is the Country Pre-Order Charts in both the UK and US, she is nervously waiting to see if she'll feature in any of the proper charts.
Emily also recently released her Christmas single, ''Always Got Next Christmas''.
As we predicted, her BCA award was to be the first of many, as Emily has recently won her second for 'Emerging Female Singer 2018' from the Midweek Music Club.
Well Done Emily!
Emily tells us that she has quite a few shows lined up in December and early January, so not much of a rest for her over the coming weeks.
She went on to say: ''2018 has been a great year for me, and I hope to build on that in 2019, as I have secured slots to open for a number of great bands next year when they tour, which will be announced in due course''.
The BCA would like to wish Emily every success for the future.
