Singer, songwriter and actor Rob Mayes released his new track ‘Lonesome For Home’ on Friday 23rd October 2020.
Written by Mayes with legendary songwriter Wood Newton (writer of chart-topping hits ‘Bobbie Sue’ by Oak Ridge Boys, ‘What I Didn’t Do’ by Steve Wariner and ‘Riding With Private Malone’ by David Ball), ‘Lonesome For Home’ is a sweet homage to home and goodness.
“There’s no feeling like going back to where I grew up, & the beauty of that feeling of just being lonesome for home,” Mayes says. “There’s a specialness and tenderness associated with it.”
And this song is made all the more special having been co-written by one of the greatest songwriters ever to grace this Earth, the inimitable Wood Newton.
‘Lonesome For Home’ was produced by frequent collaborator Smith Curry and mastered by Andrew Mendelson. The song arrives hot-on-the-heels of Mayes’ recent EP ‘Songs From the Sofa: A Quarantine Project’ and ‘Length of a Song’, which was played in the UK for the first time by Baylen Leonard on ‘The Front Porch’ on Country Hits Radio.
As well as his new music, Mayes is one of the stars of iHeart’s new podcast series ‘Make It Up As We Go’ alongside Billy Bob Thornton, Miranda Lambert and Dennis Quaid. The scripted Country musical podcast follows the story of an aspiring female songwriter played by Scarlett Burke, as she tries to make it in the music industry.
Mayes can also be seen in ‘A Soldier’s Revenge’ opposite Val Kilmer. He recently picked up ‘Best Actor’ for his role as Briggs in the film at The Wild Bunch Film Festival.
