“Nashville better prepare for Kevin McGuire…. It’s certain that the country singer is going places” – The Scottish Sun
“Kevin McGuire’s vocals are so strong, clear and authentically country” – Celebmix
With appearances at Country2Country, Nashville Meets London, The Long Road, Millport Country Festival and Nashville Nights under his belt, Glasgow’s country sensation Kevin McGuire is gearing up towards the release of brand new music. Having been hard at work in the studio over the last year, Kevin is delighted to announce the release of his new single, ‘As Good As It Gets’.
On the new single, Kevin explains:
This record feels like a real turning point in my life (not like me to sound dramatic). It’s one of the most honest songs I’ve ever written, even when I thought I was writing as honestly as I could before… this feels like a different level. There’s no hiding. The song is about not wanting to hide your feelings, and if you like someone, the chances are they’ll be aware. But… if they don’t like you back, it’s almost like a ‘please don’t crush me, let me down gently’ statement.
Over the last few years, Kevin has developed a strong UK fan base, supporting artists as varied as Union J, Jess and the Bandits, Una Healy and Deacon Blue. He first emerged onto the British country scene last year with the release of his ‘Foreign Country’ EP, which shot straight to #2 on the iTunes Country Albums Chart, with support from BBC Radio 2 and BBC Radio Scotland.
He followed up earlier this year with an acoustic rendition of The 1975’s ‘The Sound’, building his fans’ anticipation towards his next project and “stamping his own identity into one of the catchiest and most recognisable indie tracks of this decade” (The Music Site). Having just been nominated as British Country’s ‘Male Vocalist Of The Year’ once again, the future looks bright for one of the UK’s most exciting breakout talents.
