| “‘Happy?’ was co-written with my good friend Jack Wilson,” Marsh explains. “We wrote the song after a discussion about our own personal romantic relationships and plans for the future. It’s a song that everyone who has that special someone can relate to, whether someone is starting a fresh romantic relationship or is already in one. It’s about the journey that we are expected to take — about growing together and doing all the things people would expect, like getting approval from others, buying a house, getting married, having a child, etc. And regardless of what route we take and if we follow the typical journey expected of us, are we really and truly happy in the end?” |
