Released last Friday via Big Machine Label, Mackenzie Carpenter’s new single “Only Girl “ is a stunner of love song in waltz time co-penned by the Georgia native alongside Micah Carpenter, Mia Mantia and SJ McDonald.

And it really is in stark contrast to her previous two releases this year, the uptempo party anthem “Country Girls (Just Wanna Have Fun) Remix “ which of course is Mackenzie’s take on the Cyndi Lauper 80’s classic,  and most recently “Sound Of A Heartbreak“, an infectious breakup song with a driving drumbeat and searing electric guitar. Yes, this  beautiful ballad really helps demonstrate Mackenzie’s versatility as both a writer and vocalist. 

As with her last release, the production credits go to  Dann Huff and Brandon Hood (the latter also playing an assortment of guitars on the track) and the gentle arrangement really acts to highlight Mackenzie’s secure and emotionally charged vocal delivery. 

She has found the person that a lot of us can only dream of coming across, and the song is a celebration of their relationship.

“I just can’t believe it ain’t a dream, he’s here with me and I’m wide awake … l know there’s millions and billions of people living in this world, but he loves me like I’m the only girl”.

With 2023 being an exceptionally exciting year for Mackenzie, seeing her named on numerous “Artists To Watch” lists, making her Opry debut, releasing her self-titled EP and marrying the love of her life, she shows no signs of slowing down.
