Gretchen Wilson celebrated the 20th anniversary of her multi-week #1 single “Redneck Woman” and multi-platinum Here For The Party album with two performances at last week’s CMA Fest in Nashville. Tomorrow, she releases “Little Miss Runner Up,” the hard-hitting follow up to her 2005 smash hit “Homewrecker,” on Redneck Records distributed by The Orchard. Her first single since 2018, she reunited with “Homewrecker” co-writers Rivers Rutherford and George Teren on the new song.
“’Little Miss Runner Up’ follows the same girl we all know… and love to roll our eyes at! Can’t wait to see how this song looks in a country music video! LOL,” said Gretchen.
Ashley McBryde introduced Gretchen during her CMA Fest set Thursday night at Nissan Stadium as “the baddest you-know-what in country music,” and the two launched into a rousing version of “Redneck Woman.” The following day, every seat was filled at the CMA Closeup Stage for Uncle Kracker’s interview with Gretchen about her 20-year career. Friday night, Gretchen kicked off the Nissan Stadium shows with her own set with “Here For The Party,” “Homewrecker,” “Work Hard, Play Harder,” and “Redneck Woman.”
About Gretchen Wilson:
To all appearances, Gretchen Wilson went overnight from talented obscurity to phenomenon. Her meteoric rise, the kind experienced by only a handful of artists in the past few decades, was that rare instance where talent and moment met to form a cultural tidal wave.
Her first single, “Redneck Woman,” spent six weeks at #1. Her debut album, Here For The Party, sold more than five million copies and spawned three more top 5 hits including, “Homewrecker,” “When I Think About Cheatin’,” and the title track, “Here For The Party.”
Her second CD, All Jacked Up, saw four more songs ride enthusiastic reviews to platinum status, and her third record, One of the Boys, solidified her position as one of contemporary music’s most original and multi-faceted female artists.
Since her debut, she has been featured on “60 Minutes,” “Dateline NBC,” “20/20 Primetime,” CNN’s “People In The News,” and she appeared on virtually every morning, noon and late-night television show on the air.
She has won awards from ACM, CMA, AMA, Billboard, and is a GRAMMY winner. Her first book, the autobiographical “Redneck Woman: Stories from My Life,” landed her on the prestigious New York Times Best Seller List.
After much soul-searching, prayer and consultation, Gretchen left her original label home and launched her own label Redneck Records in 2009. She has released six albums on the label.
She joined her buddies Big & Rich and Cowboy Troy for the 20th Anniversary Celebration Tour earlier this year and just released a new single, “Little Miss Runnerup.”
