“Reckless”, the title of the latest single from Callista Clark released last Friday, is a word that usually has negative connotations … behaving rashly, with little or no thought about the consequences. But the rising young country artist cleverly put a positive spin on it, even seeing it as a compliment, in this song which she co-wrote alongside Sam Ellis (who also produced the track) and Laura Veltz. Full track credits are shown below.
There are some really fantastic and thought provoking lyrics in this beautiful waltz as Callista sings about her determination to follow her dreams regardless of what others may think, when it comes to both life and love. That second verse …. wow …
“Picket fences are for dancing on, stars are there for reaching, hope is worth taking chances on. Dreaming ain’t just for sleeping”. And as usual Callista’s vocals are as dreamy as they come, soaring beautifully in the chorus as she tells us “if I can stay fearless and keep this wild heart on my sleeve, then reckless is what I wanna be”.
“Reckless” follows on from two equally impressive girl-power break up singles from the Georgia native, “Bless Your Heart” and “Diamond“, all released via Dreamcatcher Artists whose roster also includes Tenille Arts. Callista has signed a production as well as an exclusive management deal with Dreamcatcher, and says in a recent article from MusicRow that “I truly couldn’t be more excited to work with Dreamcatcher! I’ve been writing nonstop over the years, and I can’t wait to share more of the songs I’ve created“, adding “I can’t wait for this next chapter“.
Watch this space as my understanding is that there’s more to come very soon from this exciting young talent.
