Dab a Dolly is a new single release from US artists Kirstie Kraus and Christie Huff. As you might have guessed from the title, the Dolly in question is indeed, the country icon Dolly Parton. The song was playfully inspired by a commercial about old Daisy Sour Cream, which had the tagline ‘Dollop of Daisy’, but the duo have flipped this around, insisting that everyone should have a Dab a Dolly in their life.
Just by looking at the artwork of the song, you immediately get ‘Barbie’ movie vibes, with the two artists wearing pink Stetsons, enclosed within a heart, with more pink all around. You already know this song is going to be fun, and it is! Dab a Dolly has a brilliant energy and an infectious nature – one of those songs you just want to turn up loud. Lyrics such as ‘Turn up the Queen of country, as she gets me in every song, a little dab a Dolly is good for everyone’.
Kirstie Kraus – “We wrote it when we were on our first tour run together. I kept saying there’s a little dab a dolly for ya after I would cover a Dolly Parton song and Christie turned to me and said let’s just write that on Monday”.
